MISSION STATEMENT 

The Shawnee Senior center is a non-profit agency supported by the City of Shawnee and other entities.  Our goal is to provide health-related, civic and recreational programs and services, promote volunteerism, and provide opportunities for social interaction to persons 50 years of age and older.

The Shawnee Senior Center is centrally located near Downtown Shawnee.

Transportation is available daily, free of charge to seniors, through a Federal transportation grant provided to the Citizen Potawatomi Nation for Elders.  Riders need only be seniors to participate.  We can give you all the details!

What brings you to us...

We have many people who begin coming to the senior center because they have recently retired or are new to the Shawnee area or are just looking for new things to do.  We also have people who find us because they, a parent or friend has lost a spouse and that person has withdrawn from activities - their family and friends worry.  

       Without social interaction and/or family support, we tend lose the socialization skills needed to adjust to changes that happen to us. 

      The Shawnee Senior Center provides opportunity for friendship and continuation of activities to support a joyful and  productive life.  Many of our participants come for socialization (and lunch) but just as many step forward and volunteer here at the senior center or at many other location within Shawnee and the surrounding community: local non-profit agencies, churches, schools, hospitals and nursing homes.
