Project H.E.A.R.T.'s Downtown Nutrition Site is housed in the Shawnee Senior Center. Open weekdays, Monday thru Friday, 8am - 2pm, Project H.E.A.R.T. provides nutritious lunches for seniors, 60 years of age and above. Donations for $1.25 per meal are gratefully accepted. All we ask is that you call by 8:30am on the day you would like to eat so enough food is prepared for all meal participants.
In addition to meals onsite, Project H.E.A.R.T. provides meals to seniors who are homebound, unable to get out without assistance, to come to the Senior Center to enjoy meals. This service offers a safety component as well, in that in some instances, the driver bringing the meal to the homebound, is the only personal contact that homebound client might see. If the client does not answer the door, their emergency contact is notified to check on that client's safety. It is a routine that has saved lives.
